Summer Read Program

The summer reading program is well under way! The library is working in cooperation with the Lone Rock Elementary School to provide a self-directed reading experience.

The goal for each child is to read 10 books in the library. A child will then enter his or her name and a joke into a drawing.  After each drawing, the jokes are posted on the bulletin board for everyone to see.

Kids can read at home as well. “Blue stamps for titles read at home”; pink stamps for titles read in the library.” Lone Rock Elementary School will have a drawing in the fall. For each book that is read over the summer, a child will have his or her name entered in the school drawing. For students that are not in school yet, or for children participating from other schools, the library will have a final drawing to include those participants.

Children can join in at any time. Simply visit the library and get started reading!
